Why Vote to Retain #435?

A repeal of the Education Scholarships Act would be catastrophic for parents and kids who need more education flexibility. This program creates a scholarship program for students from lower-income families, students with special needs, students who experience bullying, students from military families, students in foster care, and students who are denied option enrollment. A repeal takes this all away.

What the Education Scholarship Act Means for Our Kids

Students from-low income households, children with special needs, those who face bullying, students with military and foster families, and those denied enrollment options are all eligible for scholarships. These scholarships provide a lifeline to access schools that can better meet their unique needs.

Scholarship priority is given to children from the lowest-income families, ensuring that those with the greatest need are the first to benefit.

Empowering families with scholarships means giving parents the freedom to choose the school that best fits their child. This program provides the financial support needed for families to find the right educational environment for their children to succeed.

This legislation is a historic step forward for the state of Nebraska. Our kids are our future, and we all believe that every Nebraska kid should have the opportunity to have their educational needs met, whether they live in Omaha or Scottsbluff. This law ensures that we are funding students, not systems.
